The kids and I had fun yesterday afternoon making crayons! Such a simple project and a great way to use up those broken bits that are inevitable with coloring toddlers.
Heat oven to 250 degrees
Spray muffin pan with cooking spray
Take broken crayon pieces or peel and break whole ones and drop into muffin slots. (no papers!)
You can make funky combos or try and use similar colors in each slot.
Bake until melted, approx 1 hour. Could be more or less depending on how full each circle is.
Remove and allow to cool until hardened. The pretty-ness is on the bottom so try not to mess with the liquid crayons. It is tempting to stir!
Once cooled, turn upside down and pop on the counter until they come free, then get to coloring!

P.S. It is now 11:11 pm. I better hurry before this ends up Wordless Thursday.
P.S.S. All my ‘wordless’ posts have words. If you know me, that is so fitting. Look up oxymoron, my picture is there. ha!
Hope your week is going well, we’re half way to the weekend! Woohoo!

Ours was. Very merry and very messy! o_O Normally I want to leave the decorations up as long as possible, but not this year. This weekend the house was cleaned, decorations taken down, old toys purged and new toys put away. And now it’s Monday and the kids have set a bomb off, lol. Oh well, I tried. That counts for somthing, right?
Speaking of toys we followed a great tradition this year for Christmas gifts that came from a friend of mine. Each child receives something they want, something they need, something to wear and something to read (plus Santa visits). It really worked so well and helped eliminate the desire to buy a million things that the kids couldn’t possible enjoy all at once. Lots less stress!
Last year Riley got the handmade gift of a train table and this year Laikyn got a handmade gift… a baby doll! I thought I would share her with you guys. I really wanted to buy her a Waldorf style doll (google Bamboletta!) but we just didn’t have the funds for that. So last minute I decided to try my hand at making one. For the first try she came out pretty great, but of course I pick apart all the things I would have done differently had I really thought it out.
All the reason to make another! Here’s “Lucy”:

Wishing you all a Happy New Year if I don’t get a chance to post before then!
xo,
Linds

I just realized that:
a) I am sucking at blogging and needed something to say
and
b) I haven’t shared my new product — wool wine bags!
I know that sounds odd, wool wine bag… but I think it’s genius!

Basically, I needed a bag for a hostess gift and had and AH-HA moment.
They are made from reclaimed wool sweaters and close with either a unique button or a hand made wool applique. After gift giving you can roll the top portion down (seen here) and reattach the closure, then the wine bag makes a beautiful presentation piece at a party or just looking pretty on your counter.
Wool is also insulating but breathable at the same time so it is good for keeping a red wine at room temp. during those chilly months or for keeping a white wine chilled. And it’s recycled so you can say you’re GREEN living too.
I’ve sold out of the ones I had, so when I get more made I will post and let you know. They will be going up in my Etsy shop.

It’s been awhile, huh? Betcha thought I’d fallen back into blogging failure… not this girl! I’ve been busy!
Lots of sewing, knitting, and decorating going on. I love this time of year. It totally kicks my creative energy into hyper drive. Just wish my energy could keep up!
Well, I knit one sweater and now I am on a knitting roll. I just finished my 2nd sweater, one for L. It still needs the eyes stitched on, but can you see the owls?? It’s the Owlet Sweater by Kate Davies.

And then something snuggly for me. This is the Faraway, So Close Shawl by Carina Spencer. (She also designed the kimono sweater from the last post, she is a talent!) I didn’t think I’d be a shawl girl, but let me tell you… these are SO versatile. You can twist it as a scarf, wear it as a cowl, tie it, snuggle in it.. the list goes on. Shawls are not for grandma’s anymore people.

Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving! I seriously am in denial that Dec. 1st is on Tuesday. What the heck? Where did the year go? More to share this week!
xo,
Lindsey

Oh yeah. Look at me, crossing stuff off that list left and right.
Okay, not so much. But who cares? I knit a sweater! I can hardly believe it.

I love how this turned out. I also knit a little hat to match last night. I can’t WAIT to give this gift!

And you wanna know a secret?
It makes me want another babe. But I can’t tell my husband that because he would put the kibosh on that idea in a second. The little dream crusher.
